We have a little exhibitionist in our house.
For the last few mornings, I have been woken up by a little giggle. When I open my eyes and look over, it’s M. Naked. She thinks it’s hilarious. At first, she got herself undressed so she could put on her favorite ‘dress.’ I use the term loosely. It’s a shirt. A short, short shirt, that she likes to wear with nothing else.
Then, she decided to strip down so she could put on her tutu and crocs. JUST her tutu and Crocs.
She has now decided that her birthday suit is the best outfit. She is fast, too. We had friends over yesterday and no sooner did I blink and the clothes were off.
DH and I were discussing it via IM yesterday, concerning M and her new found love of ‘fashion’:
Me: UGGGGHHH!!!!! Little turd. M just came running in the kitchen with Abs’* pants on! She said “Abs wanted to switch right now”
(*Abs is her younger sister. M took off Abby’s pants she she could wear them. She tried to put the other pants on her, but Abs fought it!)
J: are you serious?
Me: very
J: I’m cracking up here. Come on – tell me you didn’t laugh. Poor Abs.
Me: Well, considering she came in wearing Abs’ shorts and waving the other ones around like a stripper, yes, I laughed!
Me again: Oh my GOD!!! She just came in with no pants on. I said “M, where are your pants?” “On me” “No, you have no pants on.” “Yes, I DO!” “Look, you only have underwear on” “Oh, OK I’ll get them”
Do all kids go through this? Do they all love/hate clothes? She is so funny…she either wants no clothing on, or the clothes that her sister is wearing. Well, sometimes she wants the clothes that she decided against that morning. That outfit suddenly becomes the only thing she needs to be happy. Cries of “Mom, this is giving me a sad feeling” or “I need the other dress or I won’t be pretty” are pretty common place now. What I don’t get, is where does this come from? I am the mom who has dressy sweat pants and a clean t-shirt as a my Sunday best. At least I’m laughing a lot!

NO you are so not alone! My 4 year old girl loves to show her butt everywhere. (rolls eyes) … she giggles as she screams “SHOW YOU MY BUUUUUTTTTT”

My son use to do the very same thing. In fact now at night it’s just the undies he likes to wear. Wish he would just wear his jammies…
I go through this everyday with my 7YO and 3YO daughters. I imagine it will change once they start doing their own laundry. Tutu and Crocs there is rash guard shirt and mom’s heels here.
It’s a woman’s world.
LOL I think they all go through it at some point!
BUT, I have to say JUST tutu and cros..that is one of the cutest ones ever!!
