Top Ten Tuesday: Things I have too many of…

I’m a pack rat. I have a lot of crap. I’ve been in the middle of a ‘declutter my house and life’ project for years, with very little progress. Everywhere I look, I see junk. Well, not always junk, but junk to me if I don’t use it…

10. Vases. I used to get lots of flowers. J is good like that! They came with vases. Some ugly, some beautiful, mostly unused now because of our sucky cats.
9. Matchless socks. A drawer full of them. I haven’t worn socks in months. They are not going to magically come out of the next load of laundry.
8. Half-finished, ‘ok’ blog posts. I’m unlikely to finish them, since the ideas weren’t great, but just can’t delete them. Same goes for old blog headers, images, etc.
7. Unworn clothes in my closet. It’s full. Full of nothing to wear. I feel my best dressed when I have 3 things that fit well and I love in my closet. Right now, I still only wear 3 things, but it takes me 20 minutes to get through the rest of the crap. And then, I end up wrinkly.
6. Exercise videos. How am I expecting myself to stick to anything when I have more videos that I could do in a month? Pick one. Donate the rest! No way…what if I need it? *sigh*
5. Sippy cups. They multiply like gremlins. I take a few out of rotation, and they always end up back in the sink.
4. Stuffed animals. Uggh. They were cute for 5 minutes. Then it was over, but I feel bad throwing them away. So, instead, they rule my house. Or sit in a trash bag in the garage…
3. Parenting books. Same as exercise videos. I can’t possibly put all these ideas into practice…
2. Shows I must watch. Ok, so not actually something I own, but when you record Jeopardy or stop doing something fun for a TV show that you can catch another time, you know it’s getting out of control.
1. Cookbooks. I don’t really cook, and when I do, the instructions are on the box. ’nuff said.

LOL, I always feel bad throwing stuffed animals away too! I always feel like they have feelings and would be sad hahah. We also have way too many sippy cups but I have an obsession with buying them.

I could have written the same list almost exactly. The thought of all the clutter makes me insane but somehow I never seem to get around to organizing it. One day….

Totally with you on the sippy cups and cookbooks. OK, stuffed animals, too. The kids don’t have an outrageous amount yet, but I have a couple garbage bags full of MY old ones (my mom has been decluttering since we moved out over 10 years ago). A lot of them are “collectible,” but I think I’ll give away the nice ones and toss the rest. Eventually.

LOL! My list is suprisingly close! The only exception would be the sippy cups… “but what if I need it” is my all-time #1 excuse for hoarding unnecessary amounts of items. Your post actually reminds me of my post froma few weeks ago: Messy Moms Club :)

Love your blog!
