I have never been accused of being a movie snob. In fact, every pre-teen girl and teenage boy thinks I have the best taste in movies. When I sit down to watch a flick, I like to laugh or get soaked up in cheesiness. Thinking? Not necessary. What movies can I watch over and over again, full well knowing they will never pass the 1 or 2 star mark? Here you go:
Fear – Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg? What could go wrong? How about the fake Boston accent from an actual Bostonian? The roller coaster ‘sex’ scene? Alyssa Milano as herself. I can’t turn this one off. My roommate Jill and I watched this one on repeat on lazy weekend afternoons.
Home Alone – What is it about this movie? Does it make me excited for Christmas? Have I repressed a memory of being forgotten home? One thing is for certain…this kid grocery shops better than I do.
American Anthem – A college favorite. Same roommate. Grown adults with real bodies doing gymnastics. Steve/Mitch Gaylord coming back to win after years of smoking and little to no training (except for his make shift high bar in the woods – of course.)
Anti-Trust – Ryan Philippe and Rachel whats-her-name play computer geniuses. Enough said.
Can’t Hardly Wait – Quite possibly the best high school movie around. You just need to see it.
Once Bitten – One of Jim Carrey’s earliest movies – high school virgin, the target of Lauren Hutton who is a vampire, and of course, there is a dance-off.
Office Space, Wedding Crashers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall – Already classics. I’m sure you’ve seen them all. If not, you must. Wear Depends.
Bring it On and its ugly cousin, Stick It – Cheerleading and gymnastics drama. Watch Kirsten Dunst in her uncoordinated glory.
Big Momma’s House – I will admit it. I love this movie. People have told me in confidence that they love it, too, but won’t admit it publicly. That makes me brave. And a trendsetter.
Girls Just Wanna have Fun/Footloose – More dance drama. Who didn’t fight their school board or their militant Dad for the God-given right to dance? Could be the story of my life. And yours, too, I’m sure. Oh, I can do most of their moves. I’ll show you someday.
What are your favorites that will never win critical acclaim? What can you watch over and over? Let me know!

I won’t lie. I was a HUGE Home Alone fan as a kid. I must have watched that movie 39 times. I loved it every time. I am not sure why!

One of may all-time favs: The Princess Bride
Off Space is great! One of the funniest movies ever!
Ruthless People?
Christmas Vacation?
I am ashamed to admit that I’ve never seen the Princess Bride…I think I’m the only one.
Christmas Vacation is a favorite…we start watching it the weekend after Thanksgiving. Can’t wait! European Vacation has some great quotes, too. “Oink, Oink, my good man!”
MOVIES…..MOVIES….MOVIES!!! I can’t wait till my daughter is OLDER and I can share with her my favs… – You know – when she finally has an attention span longer than a gnat.
OH – The Goonies, Pretty in Pink, Princess Bride, The Burbs, Pretty Woman, Karate Kid, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Varsity Blues, The Narnia Movies, the Lord of the Rings movies……the list can go on and on and on and on…
This reminds me…I should make a list – a list of all the MUST SEE movies my daughter needs to watch when she gets older – because I am sure that I will forget.

Look kids, Big Ben. Look kids, Big Ben. Look kids, Big Ben! lol
You HAVE to rent Princess Bride. It’s a classic. “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die!” I love that! so funny!
But actually, maybe it doesn’t quality for your list because I think it actually won and Oscar, or was nominated for one. But corny (in a good way) none the less.
Yes, Varsity Blues! “…and Billy Bob cried cause he’s a bit of a cryer…” My favorite line from that movie.

Fear is awesome too…gotta admire Reese for her racy roller coaster ride scene
I really like Road Trip, with Tom Green & Sean William Scott.

OMFG Bring It On is one of my FAVOURITE movies! When I was in HS I rented it from Blockbuster (ON VHS!) three consecutive times. I can’t believe that movie is ten years old.
10 years old? That makes me want to cry. Wow. Just wow.
Haha Great List! I’ve only seen about half of those movies. I wasn’t really a fan of Bring it on but I love you how your recognized Kristen’s lack of coordination! I always wondered why they didn’t get someone who was more athletic for that job. Oh and I totally loved Wedding Crashers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Office Space. I think I have those three memorized already!!
