This week’s Top Ten Thursday is hosted by Zeemaid, at In the Mommy Trenches. Check her out!

I love to read, but I will be the first to admit, I don’t read the classics. I grunted and groaned through high school and college English classes. I love chick lit and mysteries. I need quick reads that I can’t put down. There are so many books that stand out, so I included all different types: books that I read growing up, books I read to my girls, and the books I love for myself. Here they are, in no particular order:

As an adult:

The Stephanie Plum series, by Janet Evanovich. {Not the between the numbers books. Those are not good.}

The Alphabet Series, by Sue Grafton

Deception Point, by Dan Brown

A Time to Kill, by John Grisham

As a Kid:

Watership Down, by Richard Adams. My favorite book in high school.

But No Elephants, by Jerry Smath. My favorite book when I was growing up. Hard to find, now, but I’m on mission!

Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls. One of the first book that made me cry.

Sweet Valley High series, by Francine Pascal. I don’t know anyone who didn’t read these books. Regina Morrow? Bruce Patman? The Wakefield twins? I can not wait for this movie to come out!

For my girls:

The Big Red Barn, by Margaret Wise Brown. My favorite book to read to the girls. I could read it every night – so peaceful.

Goodnight Gorilla, by Peggy Rathmann. One of the first books that my oldest daughter loved. Starting to read it to my youngest now.

Want to play? Grab the button in my sidebar and link up with Zeemaid. Post your list using her topic, or choose your own. Don’t forget to visit our co-hosts Jennifer and Sara, too!

I totally love chick let. I have not red the alphabet series but have seen it at my library. Have you read the chocolate mysteries by Joanna Carl? I love the poetic death mysteries by Dianna Killian, all the fashion mystery (Raiders of the Lost Corset) and there is even a series about an organizer who stumbles around solving crimes in an organized fashion of course. *LOL* Love it all.

They’re really good. Quick reads, but fun. Not as good as Stephanie Plum!

For me, as a junior and senior in high school? Historical, romance novels. AKA, soft porn. Truly.

Ah, Stephanie Plum is great! Are you in the Joe Morelli or Ranger camp? As a teenager, I loved Jessica and Elizabeth, too. I had no idea there’s a movie coming out! I was also a BIG Nancy Drew nerd.

Now I love books by Jennifer Crusie (http://www.jennycrusie.com/) and Jennifer Weiner (http://jenniferweiner.com/). Their characters are so funny and relatable. I laugh out loud reading them! I highly recommend them.

Joe Morelli. Hands down! But I can see why people are on Team Ranger!
