Halloween without peanuts. Why bother?
Why does Minnie look so sad?

I can imagine what she’s thinking. “There goes Mom, eating all the good stuff” or “Maybe she’ll let me eat raisins. Yum. Raisins.”
We had a wonderful Halloween this year. We went down to RI to visit one of my best friends. Her daughter happens to be M’s ‘Best friend forever and ever.” Always a great time, and this was no exception. Until trick or treating. The girls were so cute – the best friends in Minnie Mouse costumes and the younger siblings dressed as a flamingo and a dragon. The cutest little group in the neighborhood, and I’m not at all biased.
I’ve mentioned here before that my girls are both allergic to peanuts. Thus, the problem. I’m pretty sure every house gave out Reese’s Peanut Butter cups or Snickers bars. In a selfish way, I was happy. More for me! Yay! My ass can get fatter. Then, I felt a little bit bad. She can’t eat half the stuff in her bag. But, she’s young, she has never been able to enjoy the delicious peanut goodness that is a Reese’s cup. She doesn’t know what she’s missing. Ok, I felt better. Then I felt much, much better while I was eating them all. Poor Abs could eat a bag of pretzels. That was it. Her teeth are thankful.
Then there’s the Swine flu. I scrutinized every person handing out candy. Does he look sick? Was the a cough or a laugh that I just heard? Can I use Purell on candy bar wrappers?
On a totally unrelated note, I am participating in National Blog Posting month. 30 posts in 30 days. My goal is to post daily for the entire month of November. I’m already almost out of ideas…you’re in for a real treat when I get truly desperate.

She looks absolutely adorable! I hope she was able to get lots of treats that were safe for her to eat. What a good mom you are to eat up all the Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers bars for her Lol!

AJ can’t have peanut candy either. Now, we have bucket of peanuty goodness. Thankfully, there was a fair amount of sugar candy given out, which she will like just as much. I also bought a bag in advance to fill in the blanks for her.
I lived on a pb cup high on sunday.

Allergies are the worst! I think trick or treating was way down this year since people were so worried about the swine flu. All I know is I walked around for 1 hour and my ankles (read cankles) were the size of my feet, so I called it a night. Where did you go in RI???

We were in W. Warwick. I gave you a wave on the way down! You are brave for going out at all. I would have sat on the couch eating the bowl of candy.

She looks so cute! And I hope she was able to enjoy some peanut free treats! I too was questioning every person who handed out candy on Halloween and I also gave kids mean looks if they came to my house and coughed! I mean, seriously!!!

She was the cutest Minnie ever! But ugh – sucks having to worry about peanuts and swine flu. Good that you got to “help out” with the chocolate eating though!

Hannah is allergic to all nuts and eggs which rules out pretty much everything in the bag except Kit Kats which she is totally, absolutely sick of now. I was “that mom” went with her to every door and made sure she got a candy she could eat but the problem candies were in most baskets. So sad. And definitely bad for me since as you mentioned it’s all the more reason for me to eat them.
