My baby is 5. No, I’m not crying. Much.
Today, my oldest daughter turns 5. The funniest little person I know…She can tell a joke with the best of them.
“What does a pirate’s dog say?”
“Aaaarf!”
“What does his other dog say?”
“Baaaark”
Yes, she makes them up.
Who would have thought that the last 5 years would fly by so quickly?
Even in my belly, she gave me trouble. At 12 weeks, an overly cautious NP told us she saw markers for genetic issues. At 27 weeks, I was told I would likely deliver her very early. I was given the stats for all the things that are more likely with premature birth. We were terrified. I spent weeks in the hospital (thankfully she was our first child!) but was able to go home. I spent the next few months in bed (Really in bed. Couldn’t get up except for the bathroom and a shower every other day), and delivered a healthy baby girl at almost 39 weeks. I had no idea I was in labor. I sneezed and all of a sudden – BOOM! 45 minutes later at the hospital I was told she was ready to be born.
Long story short, this little miracle has made the last 5 years of my life the best years yet. With the welcoming of her sister 2 years ago, I have truly never been happier.
Happy Birthday, M!

The day she was born

On her first birthday

On her second birthday

And her third

You guessed it. Fourth!

And now. A bit camera shy.

Happy Birthday! And my condolences. I did pretty well when my son turned 5, but when he started kindergarten…let’s just say that I handled it badly. Tears and vodka were both involved.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. Your labor was 45 minutes long? With your first child? Woman, you are a walking miracle.

Yep. Definitely nice, but I consider being in bed for 11 weeks prior to her birth my payment enough!

This is the first I’m reading this and I can’t believe I did the exact same thing with the pictures! Great minds… 5 years sure did fly… I still feel nauseous about it actually.
