Always listen to your wife.
I may not know much, but I know TV. Aside from knowing TV, I know enough to realize when I’m watching something that Joe will have no interest in. I don’t push these shows, and I accept that I’ll watch them during the day on DVR or on Demand. I still haven’t made him sit in front of New Moon.
Rarely, I will see a show that I just know he would love. It happened a couple years ago with NCIS. I forget why I even watched an old episode, but I did. I loved it. Great cast, hilarious dialogue. Tony DiNozzo would be my friend. I suggested he check it out. It took weeks, maybe months, and a night when he had absolutely nothing better to do, to watch an episode. Immediately, he loved it. We now watch it every week. It’s one of the few shows that he watches in rerun.
My newest success? True Blood.
I think he felt a little jealous because I was spending so much of my free time reading the Sookie Stackhouse books. Fair enough. When the books were done, I started watching season 1 and 2. Every night. 2 or 3 episodes per night.
“Aren’t you going a bit overboard, L?”
“Not at all. If you watched, you’d be hooked, too.”
“That’s not going to happen.”
Sure. Sure, it isn’t.
I caught up on both seasons. He watched none of it.
Lately, though, they have been on HBO here and there, and I stop to watch. Little, by little, I noticed Joe complaining less and watching more.
This weekend? 5 episodes. He sat through…scratch that…he purposely, on his own, watched 5 episodes.
“This is a great show. I thought it was just about vampires or like that stupid guy from Twilight. It’s really funny. I should have been watching all along!”
No shit. Next time, save yourself the trouble and just listen to me.

I think I could write a post a day with the same title and not run out of material for a long time.
Several of my friends love the book and tv series but I haven’t seen it.

Oh I LOVED New Moon, and I made my husband sit through it, and then a few days later HE wanted to watch it again. No arguments here.
My husband really does not have any shows, now the stupid xbox is another story.
